
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, a state in southern India. He was born on December 21, 1972, in Pulivendula, Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy began his political career in 2009 by founding the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) after resigning from the Indian National Congress. He won his first election in 2011, winning the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat with a record majority. In 2014, he led his party to victory in the Andhra Pradesh state elections, winning 67 out of 175 seats.
Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in May 2019, after his party won a landslide victory in the state assembly elections. He has implemented several welfare schemes, including Amma Vodi, which provides financial assistance to poor families to send their children to school, and Rythu Bharosa, which supports farmers by providing financial assistance for crop cultivation.
Under his leadership, the Andhra Pradesh government has launched several infrastructure development projects, such as the construction of the world’s largest solar park in Kurnool district, and the development of a new state capital in Amaravati. Jagan Mohan Reddy has also focused on improving healthcare and education in the state.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Father
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s father was YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who was also a prominent politician in Andhra Pradesh. YS Rajasekhara Reddy served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 2004 until his death in a helicopter crash in 2009.
YS Rajasekhara Reddy was known for his welfare schemes, such as Arogyasri, which provided free healthcare to the poor, and Indiramma Illu, which provided housing for the homeless. He was also credited with the development of several infrastructure projects in the state, such as the construction of a new international airport in Hyderabad.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has often cited his father as his inspiration in politics and has continued to implement several of his father’s welfare schemes and development projects in Andhra Pradesh.
